Selangor Fire and Rescue Department extinguished a 2.4-hectare forest fire at Taman Seri Timah, Balakong, involving 27 personnel and six vehicles.
KUALA LUMPUR: A forest fire in the hilly area of Taman Seri Timah, Balakong has been fully extinguished after more than five hours of firefighting operations.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the team controlled the blaze around 9 pm before completely extinguishing it at 12.15 am today.
The fire involved approximately 2.4 hectares of forest area on a hilltop, doubling initial estimates of 1.2 hectares.
“The department received an emergency call at 7.02 pm yesterday, and the operation concluded at 12.15 am today with no casualties reported,” he stated.
Twenty-seven personnel from five fire stations participated in the operation under Senior Fire Officer I Roduan Sudin’s command.
Two senior officers coordinated ground actions at the location during the emergency response.
Six emergency vehicles were deployed including Fire Rescue Tenders and a Water Tanker from multiple stations.
Two volunteer fire brigades with ten members and two vehicles also assisted in combating the forest fire. – Bernama
