Agropreneur NextGen grant offers up to RM50,000 for youth in agriculture

Malaysian youths can apply for Agropreneur NextGen grants up to RM50,000 to start or expand crop, livestock and fisheries projects.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) has opened applications for its Agropreneur NextGen grant programme.

The initiative offers assistance of up to RM50,000 to attract greater youth participation in the national agro-food sector.

Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said the programme is a strategic government initiative to expand agricultural projects.

“This programme was established to attract more youths to start or expand projects in the crop, livestock and fisheries sectors in a more structured, sustainable and competitive manner,” he said.

He added that the grant provides assistance in the form of goods to support project requirements at either the start-up or expansion stage.

Under the Start-Up category, assistance of up to RM30,000 is provided.

The Scale-Up category is eligible for assistance of up to RM50,000, depending on the project’s needs and scope.

Mohamad said the application process has been simplified to just three steps.

These involve account registration on the eGAN portal, completion of the application form and submission for evaluation.

“What’s even better is that applications are now open throughout the year,” he added.

Youths can apply according to their own suitability without waiting for a specific season.

Further information and the registration form are available through the Department of Agriculture Malaysia’s official channels.
