Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil calls for nationwide prayers for King, who is unwell and resting on medical advice

PUTRAJAYA:  All Malaysians are urged to join in prayer for the health of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.

“I invite all of us to pray together for the health and well-being of His Majesty,” he said during a weekly press conference here today.

According to a statement from Istana Negara, Sultan Ibrahim is currently unwell due to musculoskeletal pain (involving muscles and bones) in the back and hip area.

Istana Negara also informed that His Majesty has been advised by medical experts to rest and refrain from attending any official events to allow space for treatment and the recovery process.

In other developments, Fahmi, who is also the Communications Minister, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has requested more ministers to go “down to the ground” to various districts.

“The Prime Minister has requested more ministers to go down and listen to district development briefings to ensure that development issues at the district level are prioritised,” he said.

According to Fahmi, during the Cabinet Meeting today, the Prime Minister also shared views regarding the results of his visit to Bentong, Pahang, on Jan 22, where he was given a district development briefing.

“The Prime Minister informed that he will be visiting the Kinta district in Perak at the end of February,” he said.
