Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim insists government projects must be implemented promptly and with integrity to truly benefit local communities, warning against delays and mismanagement.
BENTONG: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has declared the MADANI Government’s top priority is ensuring all projects are implemented promptly and with integrity to genuinely impact local communities.
He stated that under the 13th Malaysia Plan, the government approved 563 people-centric projects worth RM32 billion for Pahang, including 34 projects valued at RM1.66 billion specifically for Bentong district.
“Any project that is delayed due to management weaknesses or contractor problems cannot be left to drag on for years,” Anwar said in a Facebook post.
He explained that every delay means the people continue to be denied the facilities and services they should rightfully enjoy.
Anwar made the remarks following his inspection visit to Bentong, where he also ordered immediate assistance for 106 families living in extreme poverty in the district.
“I have ordered that assistance be expedited and these families must be removed from the cocoon of extreme poverty within one month,” he stated.
He emphasised that all administrative levels must closely monitor project progress, particularly initiatives like classroom upgrades and teacher room improvements ahead of the National Education Plan 2026–2035.
“Failure at the implementation stage, including problematic or late-completion projects, will affect the comfort of learning and the future of children,” Anwar warned.
The Prime Minister stressed that integrity is non-negotiable, stating that every sen channelled is a public trust that must reach the people.
“The relaxation of project approvals is not a space for misuse, but an effort to speed up implementation so that the benefits are immediately felt by the people,” he concluded.
