Australia’s High Commissioner visits Perlis, meets Raja, and discusses state’s industrial and inland port investment potential with Australian firms.
ARAU: The Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, received a courtesy visit from Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia, Danielle Heinecke, at Istana Arau.
The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, and the Raja Puan Muda, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, were also present.
Perlis Menteri Besar Abu Bakar Hamzah and state secretary Datuk Rahimi Ismail attended the meeting.
Following the audience, Heinecke joined the royal family for a dinner.
Earlier that day, the high commissioner participated in a cycling event led by the Raja Muda around Kampung Warna Warni in Kuala Perlis.
Speaking to reporters, Heinecke said this was her first visit to Perlis.
She expressed interest in the state’s investment potential, particularly in industrial development and the Perlis Inland Port (PIP).
“Hopefully, we can encourage some Australian companies to explore the opportunities here in Perlis,” she said.
She noted she would share information on the state’s investment plans with interested Australian companies.
“It’s great to see what the government is doing to attract investment, and we’ll do our part by sharing this information with interested companies,” she added. – Bernama
