Lorry driver pleads not guilty to armed robbery and unnatural sex charges

A lorry driver denied charges of armed robbery with a screwdriver and committing unnatural sex on a Thai woman in Kuala Lumpur last December

KUALA LUMPUR: A lorry driver pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to charges of armed robbery and committing sexual intercourse against the order of nature on a Thai woman last December.

G. Loganathan, 32, was charged with robbing the victim of RM300 in cash by using a screwdriver and a crowbar in a car in Taman Gembira here at 2 am, Dec 26, 2025.

The charge is under Section 392 of the Penal Code read together with Section 397 of the same code, which provides for a maximum prison sentence of 14 years and can be fined or whipped, if convicted.

In addition, the accused was also charged with committing unnatural sex against the victim without her consent in the same vehicle along Jalan Midah, Cheras, between 2 am and 12.30 pm, the same date.

The offence was charged under Section 377C of the Penal Code which provides for a prison sentence of five years to a maximum of 20 years and can be subject to whipping if convicted.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohamad Ikhwan Mohd Nasir did not offer bail because the offence was serious and the accused was at risk of fleeing or harassing the victim and witnesses, as the victim is a Thai national.

“The accused is likely to harass the victim and prosecution witnesses since the victim is a Thai national and there is no consent in this case,” he said.

Lawyer Charanpal Singh, who represented the accused, requested the court to grant his client bail on the grounds that the accused suffered from hernia and needed to seek hospital treatment, and was willing to comply with additional conditions.

Judge Dr Azrol Abdullah rejected the accused’s bail application because the offence was serious and set March 16 as the date for mention of the case.
