Masseuse sentenced to one year jail for posting fake royal marriage certificate video on TikTok, charged under Communications Act.
KUALA LUMPUR: A masseuse received a one-year prison sentence from the Sessions Court for posting a video containing a fabricated royal marriage certificate.
Judge Suhaila Haron imposed the sentence on Persana Avril Sollunda, aged 43, after she changed her plea to guilty during her mention hearing.
The court ordered the sentence to run from her arrest date on June 18.
Persana was accused of creating and transmitting an image within a fake video via the TikTok account “king.charles.ratu”.
The video depicted a false marriage certificate between a royal family member and “Crown Princess Ratu Shana”.
She committed the offence with intent to harass another person on February 25, 2025.
The post was subsequently accessed at 10.00 am on February 26 at the Cyber and Multimedia Crime Investigation Division Office in Bukit Aman.
She faced charges under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
This section carries a maximum penalty of a 500,000 ringgit fine or up to two years imprisonment.
An additional fine of 5,000 ringgit may be imposed for each day the offence continues after conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Izzat Amir Idham urged the court to impose a proportionate sentence.
He cited the seriousness of the offence and its impact on the royal institution.
“The accused’s actions had significant public impact as the post was widely shared,” he submitted.
He added that the post disrupted the harmony of the royal institution.
The prosecution sought a custodial sentence as a deterrent measure.
“This should serve as a lesson to the public and to the accused herself,” Izzat said.
Defence counsel Datuk Noor Svetlana Mohd Noordin pleaded for a lenient sentence.
She submitted that her client experienced trauma from a previous marriage.
The counsel also stated that Persana regularly seeks treatment for her mental health. – Bernama
