A 77-year-old woman missing for four days found deceased in Hutan Melintang plantation ditch after multi-agency search operation.
IPOH: An elderly woman missing since Tuesday was discovered deceased in a banana plantation ditch in Kampung Teluk Kerdu, Hutan Melintang this morning.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department acting operations chief Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah confirmed the body of Halimah Idris, 77, was located at 10.50 am.
The victim, believed to be suffering from dementia, was found after search and rescue operations resumed earlier today.
“At 9 am, the operation was carried out with multiple agencies searching two sectors, Sector A and Sector B,” Shazlean stated.
The teams followed the victim’s last known trail within a five-kilometre radius toward the riverbank.
Search methods included the sweep search technique and application of the LAST (Lost and Survive Technique) concept.
The victim was discovered by the SAR team in Sector B within the plantation ditch.
Ministry of Health personnel pronounced the elderly woman dead at the scene.
The body was subsequently handed over to police for further investigation.
Halimah Idris was last seen by family members and local villagers around 4 pm on October 28.
