KPDN’s Ramadan enforcement drive finds 785 offences, issues RM158,800 in compounds and seizes goods worth over RM4.2 million

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has conducted over 40,000 inspections nationwide as part of its Ops Pantau 2026 enforcement drive.

The operation, running from February 19 to March 7, aims to ensure price stability and trader compliance throughout Ramadan and the upcoming Aidilfitri festive period.

KPDN Enforcement director-general Datuk Azman Adam said 40,563 premises were inspected, including Ramadan bazaars, grocery shops, and markets.

These inspections uncovered 785 cases involving various trade offences.

A total of 930 public complaints were received and acted upon during the same period.

Authorities issued 613 compounds amounting to RM158,800 and seized items with a total value of RM4,275,524.30.

Of the nationwide inspections, 13,436 were specifically conducted at Ramadan bazaars.

Azman said inspections at these bazaars recorded eight cases for failing to display price tags under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.

Other cases were detected under the Weights and Measures Act 1972 and the Consumer Protection Act 1999.

For Aidilfitri bazaars, 934 inspections have been carried out so far with no offences recorded.

This compares to 2025, when 4,878 inspections at Aidilfitri bazaars resulted in five cases.

Azman said KPDN will continue nationwide monitoring and enforcement to ensure trader compliance.

The ministry aims to protect consumer rights from price manipulation, trade fraud, and profiteering.

The public is encouraged to channel complaints through KPDN’s official channels.

These include WhatsApp at 019-8488000, the KPDN e-Aduan portal, the Call Centre at 1-800-886-800, or the Ez ADU KPDN smartphone application.
