Batu Pahat police arrest parents of six-year-old boy slashed at home, open child neglect case as victim remains hospitalised.
BATU PAHAT: Police have arrested both parents of the six-year-old boy who was slashed with a knife at his Parit Raja home.
The 41-year-old parents were detained at the Batu Pahat district police headquarters grounds around 4 pm today.
Batu Pahat district police chief ACP Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani confirmed the arrests were made to assist investigations.
“Police have also opened a new investigation paper under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 regarding child neglect,” he told Bernama.
The victim remains hospitalised at Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital in stable condition after undergoing surgery.
Police are waiting for the boy to make a full recovery before recording his statement.
The boy’s mother previously claimed she discovered her son with a neck slash when she woke up at 5.30 am yesterday. – Bernama
