Police record statement from individual suspected of uploading offensive social media remarks against Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani.
IPOH: Police have recorded a statement from an individual believed to have uploaded offensive remarks on social media against Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.
Gerik district police chief Supt Abdul Samad Othman confirmed the suspect was summoned to the Gerik district police headquarters at about 3 pm yesterday to assist in the investigation.
Police also seized a mobile phone belonging to the suspect believed to have been used for posting the offensive remarks.
The case is being investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
On May 9, the Gerik police headquarters received a report from the Perak Menteri Besar’s special officer regarding a screenshot of the offensive statement posted on Facebook against Saarani. – Bernama
