Police witness testifies that Ebit Lew managed his own Instagram account, with MCMC analysis confirming his identity on the platform.
TENOM: A prosecution witness testified that Ebit Erawan Ibrahim Lew managed his own Instagram account in his sexual harassment case.
Royal Malaysia Police investigating officer Superintendent Noor Asyikin Shamsuri, 46, said this was based on Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission analysis.
The prosecution’s 18th witness stated the MCMC reply letter confirmed the Instagram account under Ebit Lew’s name was managed by Ebit Irawan Ibrahim Lew.
She said the analysis included a profile photo of the accused in a red robe and information about Transform Training & Consultancy company.
“The MCMC report also showed Lew’s official Facebook page which has the same phone number,” she told the Magistrate’s Court during examination by deputy public prosecutor Nor Azizah Mohamad.
Noor Asyikin received the analysis report after police requested MCMC to examine the accused’s social media accounts and phone numbers.
During cross-examination by defence counsel Datuk Ram Singh, she denied communication existed between the complainant and accused on Instagram since 2018.
She stated investigations showed the complainant communicated with Lew using WhatsApp instead.
Ebit Lew, 38, faces 11 charges under Section 509 of the Penal Code for outraging a woman’s modesty.
The charges involve sending lewd messages and photos through WhatsApp between March and June 2021.
The trial continues tomorrow before Magistrate Nur Asyraf Zolhani. – Bernama
