Police reveal revenge as motive for murder of mother and daughter in Juru, with Nepalese suspect to be charged under Section 302.
BUKIT MERTAJAM: Police investigations indicate revenge as the likely motive behind the murder of a woman and her daughter discovered at a house in Kampung Sekolah Juru on October 18.
Penang Police Chief Datuk Azizee Ismail stated this conclusion followed the arrest of the primary suspect, a 35-year-old Nepalese man, in Selangor on October 24.
He confirmed the suspect was attempting to evade authorities when apprehended.
The main suspect’s remand period concludes tomorrow, with police seeking an extension at the Bukit Mertajam Magistrate’s Court to finalise the investigation.
Azizee explained the revenge motive targeted the female victim but declined further details due to the ongoing investigation.
Two other Nepalese men arrested alongside the main suspect, including his older brother, will be released on police bail tomorrow.
Police will submit the completed investigation paper to the State Deputy Public Prosecutor’s office for subsequent legal action.
The foreign suspect will face charges under Section 302 of the Penal Code following this submission.
Media reports identified the victims as Sariya Che Hin, 51, and her adopted daughter Nur Afrina Alisha Abdul Rahim, 11.
Their bodies were found in their rented home, with the woman in the kitchen and the child upstairs.
Police previously detained the victim’s 57-year-old husband and remanded three Nepalese men for seven days until tomorrow. – Bernama
