REMBAU: A disabled man died in a house fire here last night, leaving his sibling heartbroken over their lost tradition of buying treats together.
Royhan Fadila Khaidir, 31, said he would no longer hear his younger brother’s playful requests to visit the shop for sweets and chocolates.
Mohd Alfian Syahrizal, 25, affectionately known as Pian, was found burnt to death in their Kampung Seberang Batu Hampar home.
Royhan received the devastating news while returning from a hiking trip in Semenyih, Selangor.
“My sister called in panic, telling me our house was on fire,” he recalled emotionally.
“By the time the flames were put out, everything was gone – and Pian’s body was found on the bed.”
Only their father and Mohd Alfian were home during the incident, as their mother and another sister were working night shifts.
The father attempted to rescue his son but was forced back by raging flames, sustaining burns to his shoulder and head.
Royhan shared that his brother had shown unusual behaviour in recent days, repeatedly asking their mother to help him bathe.
“Normally, he’d bathe on his own,” he said softly.
“We will really miss him.”
Mohd Alfian Syahrizal, a special-needs individual in the slow learner category, will be buried at the Kampung Seberang Batu Hampar Muslim Cemetery after post-mortem procedures. – Bernama
