Elderly woman dies, three injured in two-car crash in Muar

 A 73-year-old woman died and three others were injured in a two-car collision on Jalan Pintasan Bakri in Muar last night.

MUAR: An elderly woman was killed while three others sustained injuries in a two-car accident on Jalan Pintasan Bakri last night.

Senior Fire Officer I Mohd Fettry Mahat from the Muar Fire and Rescue Station confirmed receiving a distress call at 9.47 pm.

A team of twelve personnel was immediately dispatched to the scene following the emergency call.

The collision involved a Honda City and a Toyota Vios according to an official statement.

The nineteen-year-old Honda City driver and her twenty-five-year-old male passenger both suffered minor injuries.

Members of the public provided initial assistance to the injured Honda City occupants at the scene.

The forty-four-year-old Toyota Vios driver was also hurt in the serious collision.

Her seventy-three-year-old female passenger was found trapped inside the vehicle and unconscious.

Fire and rescue team members used special equipment to extricate the trapped elderly victim.

A Ministry of Health medical officer confirmed the elderly victim had died at the scene.

The victim’s body was subsequently handed over to police for further investigation.

All three injured individuals were transported to hospital for necessary medical treatment.

The rescue operation concluded at 10.51 pm after confirming the scene was safe. – Bernama
