Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution says his ministry is still gathering information on an alleged South Korean cult operating in the country.
PUTRAJAYA: The Home Ministry is still in the process of collecting information regarding the alleged existence of a South Korean cult operating in Malaysia.
Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said he could not comment further as investigations and information-gathering are ongoing.
“I am still collecting information,” he said briefly when asked if he had received information on the matter from Perlis Mufti Datuk Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin.
He was speaking after attending a Back-to-School assistance presentation organised by the ministry’s Puspanita branch.
The inaugural Puspanita event for the year involved over 300 recipients, comprising children of ministry staff and those from its agencies.
Saifuddin said the programme aims to help ease parents’ expenses as the school term begins.
He added that the government also plays a crucial role through the RM800 million allocation for one-off Early Schooling Aid.
Each student from Year One to Form Six will receive RM150 through their schools.
“The combination of government allocations, initiatives by bodies such as Puspanita, and support from private companies is a positive effort,” he said.
He expressed gratitude that such initiatives can be implemented in a politically stable and economically prosperous country.
