Inclusive digital access key to Malaysia’s transformation

Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof says Malaysia aims to lead the digital revolution by ensuring equal access for all citizens, focusing on smart infrastructure and sustainable growth.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s drive towards digital transformation must guarantee every citizen equal access to digital opportunities regardless of location or income.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the government envisions a Malaysia equipped with advanced digital infrastructure and a future-ready talent pool.

“Malaysia’s ambition is clear. We are not here to follow the digital revolution. We are here to lead it,” he said in his opening address at the Smart Nation Expo 2025.

He emphasized that technology must uplift people and ensure progress benefits every citizen.

Fadillah, who is also Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister, said his ministry continues to champion renewable energy and smart water management.

He noted that digitalisation and sustainability serve as mutually reinforcing pillars for national growth.

“Our national aspirations align with the Malaysia Smart City Framework, which envisions inclusive digital access and seamless public services,” he added.

The Smart Nation Expo 2025, themed Driving Digitalisation Towards a Smart Economy, features more than 300 participating companies.

Organisers expect over 21,000 industry professionals to attend the event running until November 20.

The expo is co-located with Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Asia and Data Centre Asia Malaysia.

Three major summits are being held concurrently alongside more than 50 Technology Talks covering 5G adoption and artificial intelligence.

Organisers position the annual event as Southeast Asia’s most comprehensive technology and innovation showcase.
