The Perumahan Kasih Johor 4.0 initiative has helped 5,000 homebuyers in the state as part of efforts to strengthen homeownership.
JOHOR BAHRU: The Perumahan Kasih Johor (PKJ) 4.0 initiative has benefited 5,000 homebuyers in the state as part of the Johor government’s efforts to strengthen its homeownership agenda.
Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the initiative reflects the state government’s continued commitment to enabling more Bangsa Johor, particularly young people, to own their own homes.
He said the state government has consistently taken into account the needs of the people, who not only face challenges in purchasing homes but also require support after becoming homeowners to ease the burden of initial costs and the transition into homeownership.
“Since taking office, one of the state government’s top priorities has been housing.
“We have listened to the concerns of Bangsa Johor, especially young people, who asked whether affordable homes in Johor were merely there to be looked at. It was constructive criticism, and it is our responsibility to help address their concerns,” he said at the presentation ceremony for the PKJ’s fourth phase at the Austin International Convention Centre (AICC) here today.
Also present were state Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor and Johor Housing Development Corporation (PKPJ) chief executive officer Datin Paduka Dr Suhailizan Suliman.
Onn Hafiz said the various improvements and innovations introduced by PKPJ have enabled more people to benefit from housing assistance, including aid for first-time home purchases, moving into a new home and rental assistance.
Under the PKJ’s fourth phase, RM20.75 million has been allocated to benefit about 5,000 recipients, comprising RM5,000 in first-home purchase assistance, RM2,000 in first-home moving assistance, and RM2,500 in rental assistance for eligible recipients.
“Never before have recipients received assistance of up to RM7,000 through the combination of first-home purchase and moving assistance. This demonstrates the effectiveness of the system we have implemented. The more we help the people, the more blessings Johor receives,” he said.
Onn Hafiz said the state government would continue to strengthen its public housing agenda to enable more Johoreans to own comfortable and affordable homes.
He also reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to assisting the people regardless of race, while urging the public to continue safeguarding unity and not be influenced by elements that could undermine harmony in the state.
