Kampung Perak residents gain social security through MADANI village programme

Fifty Kampung Perak residents receive SKSPS benefits under the MADANI Adopted Village Programme, with JTKSM covering their annual contributions.

KLUANG: Fifty residents of Kampung Perak in Simpang Renggam have received benefits under the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme (SKSPS) this year.

The scheme is administered by the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) through the MADANI Adopted Village Programme run by the Department of Labour Peninsular Malaysia (JTKSM).

JTKSM director-general Kamal Pardi said the annual contributions are fully covered by the programme’s allocation.

“This effort encourages self-employed workers to prioritise safety and social protection,” he stated.

A review found most residents work in oil palm and rubber farming or house building without a permanent employer.

These individuals are exposed to the risk of workplace accidents without formal protection.

“JTKSM has encouraged these individuals to contribute to PERKESO to ensure they have protection,” Kamal told reporters.

He spoke at the launch of the JTKSM MADANI Adopted Village Programme at Kampung Perak today.

The village was selected as JTKSM’s 2025 adopted village based on needs for infrastructure and community facility improvements.

The government has allocated RM1 million to implement this programme.

Planned projects include constructing an open hall and purchasing a funeral van with equipment.

Repairs and upgrades to the mosque and community hall are also planned to benefit residents directly.

Kamal said the selection reflects the government’s commitment to improving rural community welfare.

This commitment aligns with the broader Malaysia MADANI aspirations.

The MADANI Adopted Village Programme aims to reduce urban-rural disparities by improving basic infrastructure.

It is coordinated by the Implementation Coordination Unit in the Prime Minister’s Department.

The Ministry of Finance leads the initiative, involving various ministries and government-linked companies.

The programme enhances rural well-being through a whole-of-government approach. – Bernama
