Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim urges ministries and GLICs to evaluate the effectiveness of PuTERA35 initiatives, stressing impact over mere reporting.
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for a rigorous assessment of high-impact initiatives under the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan 2035 (PuTERA35).
He stressed that ministries and government-linked investment companies (GLICs) must move beyond listing completed projects to evaluating their actual effectiveness.
Anwar chaired the first Bumiputera Economic Council meeting of 2026 today.
He said continuous, in-depth analysis is crucial to avoid complacency and identify areas for improvement.
The meeting comprehensively reviewed the progress of PuTERA35 implementation.
It also noted current progress by GLICs in supporting the Bumiputera economic empowerment agenda.
This support focuses on property development, entrepreneurship, talent development and social initiatives.
Anwar said ministries and GLICs must ensure planned initiatives are complementary and do not overlap.
“With a more integrated, focused and structured approach, I am confident that the initiatives under PuTERA35 will continue to benefit various segments of society,” he said.
He added this approach would deliver intended outcomes for Bumiputera prosperity and the nation.
Anwar shared these remarks in a post on his official Facebook page.
