Malaysia Airports says over 9,300 flights moved smoothly during ASEAN Summit with special handling for 60 chartered flights at KLIA and SZB.
PUTRAJAYA: All arrival and departure movements for the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits proceeded smoothly across both terminals of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport.
Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad confirmed in a statement that more than 9,300 flight movements and 1.4 million passenger movements were recorded during the eight-day summit travel period from October 22 to 29.
A total of 60 special and chartered flights were handled through the Bunga Raya Complex at KLIA and SZB’s business aviation terminal with precise scheduling and minimal impact on regular operations.

A core planning team of about 70 officers from 24 units oversaw months of preparation covering logistics, ground handling, and emergency readiness.
MAHB stated that preparations involving emergency communication, evacuation procedures and compliance measures were carried out months ahead of the event.
The Airport Crisis Management Team was activated in the final week of October to provide real-time operational oversight and coordination with key agencies.
MAHB added that the seamless management of ASEAN Summit operations demonstrates the strength of Malaysia’s aviation ecosystem and readiness to host major international events.
The 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits gathered leaders from 11 ASEAN member states and dialogue partners including China, Japan, South Korea, India, Australia, and the United States.
The three-day regional meeting was held under Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025 with the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability”. – Bernama
