Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says Malaysia revitalised dialogue and built bridges during its ASEAN 2025 chairmanship with historic achievements
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has led the ASEAN regional bloc with confidence through a period of global change during its 2025 chairmanship according to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He stated that Malaysia revitalised dialogue built new bridges and demonstrated the continued vibrancy of the ASEAN spirit guided by wisdom reason and shared purpose under unity and peace.
The 47th ASEAN Summit concluded Malaysia’s chairmanship with historic milestones achieved in Kuala Lumpur including the KL Peace Accord between Cambodia and Thailand and the signing of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area 3.0.
Anwar emphasised that ASEAN’s true strength lies in the loyalty inclusivity and mutual trust among its member states.
He expressed gratitude as the chairmanship transfers to the Philippines acknowledging that while not all deadlocks were resolved every bold step helped shape history toward hope and justice.
The Prime Minister also thanked Malaysians for their patience and hospitality toward regional partners throughout the year.
He declared that the world has witnessed the real Malaysia through these efforts.
The 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits concluded on October 28 after three days with several key achievements including the formal admission of Timor-Leste as ASEAN’s 11th member state. – Bernama
