KPDN aims for 10 million local product SKUs under the Buy Malaysian Products Campaign next year after a sixfold increase in 2024.
SHAH ALAM: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) aims to increase local product stock keeping units (SKUs) to 10 million under the Buy Malaysian Products Campaign (KBBM) next year.
Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh said this target is reasonable given this year’s campaign recorded 6,333,529 SKUs, a more than sixfold increase from 1,003,765 SKUs in 2023.
She said this growth demonstrates local products are gaining wider market access through modern retail and digital platforms.
“KBBM recorded more than RM7.4 billion in sales value last year, a 13.6% increase from RM6.39 billion in 2023,” she told reporters after launching the campaign at Lotus’s Malaysia in Setia Alam.
Fuziah revealed Lotus’s Malaysia recorded over RM44.2 million in local product sales in 2024, involving more than 2,500 SKUs, representing a 9.1% increase from the previous year.
“This clearly shows that local products are winning consumer confidence and improving competitiveness among industry players,” she said.
KPDN has welcomed eight new local suppliers who have officially joined the Lotus’s network, creating fresh opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
Lotus’s Malaysia will launch a Spend and Redeem Campaign on November 27 to give customers better value while strengthening demand for small and medium industry products.
Fuziah emphasized KPDN’s commitment to promoting local products through structured collaboration with 18 supermarket chains and three major e-commerce platforms.
The ministry will also expand access to training, certification and market support for micro, small and medium enterprises.
The current KBBM at Lotus’s Malaysia runs until Sunday, featuring 19 MSME entrepreneurs showcasing their products. – Bernama
