A man died in a six-vehicle collision on the PLUS expressway near the Kulai RNR this morning, involving multiple lorries and a fire.
JOHOR BAHRU: A man was killed in a six-vehicle crash at Kilometre 31.9 of the southbound North-South Expressway (PLUS) just after the Kulai Rest and Relaxation area (RNR) this morning.
Kulai Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Senior Fire Officer II Khairil Mohd Adzami said they received a distress call at 9.02 am and arrived at the location at 10.03 am to find a crash involving six vehicles, with some of them on fire.
“The vehicles involved in the crash were a Dongfeng container lorry, a 40-foot trailer carrying metal fencing, a Toyota Hilux, a Nissan Vanette, a 10-ton Nissan lorry carrying mosaic and a one-ton bonded lorry.
“The driver of the trailer, a man in his 30s, was found dead at the scene and was pronounced dead by Health Ministry officers before his body was handed to the police for further action.
“The Toyota Hilux driver, 29, two men, 32 and 29, in the Nissan Vanette and the driver of the one-ton bonded truck, a man, 34, were reported to be safe and uninjured, but information about the drivers of the Dongfeng container lorry and the 10-ton Nissan lorry could not be obtained as they were not at the location during the operation,” he said in a statement today.
The Toyoya Hilux and the Nissan Vanette suffered 90% damage, while the trailer suffered 80% damage, the 10-ton Nissan lorry and the one-ton bonded lorry both suffered 60% damage as a result of the fire, he added.
