Melaka introduces seven affordable tourism initiatives for 2026, including integrated packages and a smart tourist card with exclusive discounts.

MELAKA: The state government will introduce seven new initiatives under the Pay Less, See More concept next year.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said this marks a more progressive phase for Visit Melaka Year and Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

The first initiative is the Melaka Integrated Tourism Package offering five key attractions at a single affordable price.

These attractions include the Melaka River Cruise, Menara Taming Sari, Flor de la Mar Maritime Museum, Melaka Sultanate Palace Museum, and a cultural performance at Panggung Bangsawan.

The second initiative is the Melaka Smart Tourist Card providing exclusive discounts at various locations and major attractions.

A Hop On Hop Off Cruise package will allow visitors to park vehicles and board or disembark at any jetty along the Melaka River Cruise route.

Visitors must purchase a one-day or three-day cruise pass valid from morning until night at an affordable rate.

They are also encouraged to stay at hotels or homestays located along Sungai Melaka.

The Cruise and Cultural Pass includes tickets for the Melaka River Cruise and visits to Kampung Morten or Panggung Bangsawan.

The Taste of Melaka Trail @ Sungai Melaka initiative offers vouchers worth between 20 and 30 ringgit for iconic dishes.

These dishes include asam pedas, cendol, kuih keria, and other local heritage delicacies.

A special hotel and accommodation initiative provides complimentary tickets to selected attractions for three-day, two-night stays.

Complimentary tickets include the Melaka River Cruise, Sungai Linggi Eco Cruise, Tasik Chin Chin Eco Cruise, or Menara Taming Sari.

The Cultural Pass for Students offers special discounts for school and university students visiting historical sites.

All initiatives aim to establish Melaka as a model state and benchmark for excellence in Malaysia’s tourism landscape.

Ab Rauf said Melaka is not merely a minor player in the country’s cultural and tourism agenda.

The state recorded 13.5 million tourist arrivals between January 1 and September 30 this year.

This represents a 25% increase compared to the same period last year.

These arrivals have significantly boosted the state’s economy, social development, and overall image. – Bernama
