RM145.5 million criminal breach of trust case involving Maju Holdings director Abu Sahid Mohamed moved to Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court for joint hearing.

KUALA LUMPUR: The RM145.5 million criminal breach of trust case involving Maju Holdings director Tan Sri Abu Sahid Mohamed has been transferred to the Sessions Court here for a joint trial.

Judge Suzana Hussin approved the transfer from Shah Alam Sessions Court after Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Ahmad Akram Gharib informed the court that prosecution had obtained required approval.

Ahmad Akram said the accused faced four CBT charges in this court on September 8, with another CBT case filed on September 24 in Shah Alam now transferred for joint trial.

Defence counsel Datuk Jasbeer Singh, representing Abu Sahid, did not object to the application.

During today’s proceedings, charges were read again to Abu Sahid, who maintained his not guilty plea.

The court maintained the existing RM1.5 million bail with one surety and set January 8, 2026 for case mention.

For the five CBT charges, Abu Sahid is accused of dishonestly misusing over RM458.5 million held in company bank accounts between May 3, 2016 and October 21, 2019.

The charges are framed under Section 409 of the Penal Code, carrying maximum 20 years imprisonment, whipping and a fine upon conviction.

Abu Sahid also faces 10 counts of transferring RM116.4 million in unlawful proceeds to five individuals and four construction companies.

For three money laundering charges, he is accused of disposing RM22.8 million in illicit funds via 15 cheques between May 4, 2016 and September 19, 2018.

These offences fall under anti-money laundering laws providing for maximum 15 years imprisonment and fine up to five times the amount involved. – Bernama
