Over 30 minor accidents on Gua Musang roads during Aidilfitri

Police report over 30 minor crashes on Gua Musang routes in two days, attributing most to driver fatigue and urging motorists to use alternative highways.

GUA MUSANG: Police have reported more than 30 minor traffic accidents along key routes in this district over the past two days.

Gua Musang police chief Supt Sik Choon Foo said most crashes occurred on the Kuala Lipis and Pahang-Gua Musang highways, as well as federal and state roads.

He attributed the majority of incidents to driver fatigue from long-distance travel. “Over 20 accidents were reported to have occurred yesterday, while 15 more cases have been reported as of this afternoon,” he said on Thursday (March 19).

Sik confirmed there were no fatal accidents in the reported cases. He advised motorists to consider using alternative routes to avoid congestion.

These include the East Coast Expressway (LPT), the East-West Highway (LRTB) and the Simpang Pulai route in Perak. He urged road users to exercise caution and ensure their vehicles are in good condition.

“Any breakdowns during congestion can cause traffic flow to slow down and worsen,” he told reporters. He was speaking after the Gua Musang-level Ops Selamat 26 Programme and a breaking of fast event.

The event was held at the Mentara Road Transport Department (JPJ) Enforcement Station. During the programme, 300 food packets were distributed to travellers on Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Lipis.
