Missing senior citizen in Kuala Kangsar found dead in forest

A 70-year-old man missing since Monday was found deceased in a forest area near Kuala Kangsar following a multi-agency search operation.

IPOH: A senior citizen who went missing on Monday after leaving to search for his cows was discovered deceased in a forest area in Kampung Paya Permai, Lubok Merbau, near Kuala Kangsar this afternoon.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department acting assistant director of operations Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah confirmed that the body of 70-year-old Zahari Zainuddin was found at 3.48 pm.

The discovery followed an extensive search operation conducted jointly by several security agencies and local villagers.

He stated that the victim’s body was located in a bush area approximately 900 metres from the Fire Control Centre.

The search operation team focused their efforts around the last known location where the elderly man was seen.

Shazlean added that the victim’s family had officially reported him missing on Tuesday.

Zahari’s body has since been handed over to the police for further investigation and necessary procedures. – Bernama
