MITI officials visited Bernama to reinforce ties and ensure accurate, timely dissemination of national policies like NIMP 2030 and the ART agreement.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) has strengthened its cooperation with the national news agency to ensure effective public communication.
A delegation led by MITI secretary-general Datuk Hairil Yahri Yaacob made an official visit to Bernama’s headquarters on December 8.
The visit aimed to foster closer ties between the ministry and the media, particularly in disseminating policy information.
Bernama chief executive officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin said the visit symbolised MITI’s trust in the agency’s official role.
“Indeed, the cooperation between Bernama and MITI not only involves news coverage, but also encompasses shared responsibility in delivering information on national policies to the people accurately, promptly, and with integrity,” she stated.
She emphasised that MITI’s announcements directly impact investor confidence, job creation, and industrial competitiveness.
Bernama is therefore committed to ensuring all important information from the ministry is conveyed accurately to the public.
During the meeting, both parties discussed the current media landscape and strategic cooperation.
They exchanged views on delivering the latest information regarding key policies and initiatives.
These include the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) and the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030).
The MITI delegation also included director of the Malaysia Secretariat for Expo 2025 Osaka, Nor Haslynda Wan Rahim, and head of strategic communications, Nor Sheila Fatin Shaik Annuar Pasha.
They were received by Bernama’s editor-in-chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj and representatives from Bernama TV and radio.
