KPDN confirms no legal violations in RON95 petrol quantity claims under BUDI95 subsidy after thorough investigation and consumer complaints.
PUTRAJAYA: No legal violations have been found regarding claims that consumers received less than the correct quantity of RON95 petrol following the launch of the targeted BUDI MADANI RON95 subsidy.
The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry stated it has taken social media posts alleging insufficient or lower-quality RON95 petrol seriously.
Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali ordered an immediate investigation to ensure transparent examination of the issue and protection of consumer rights.
KPDN director-general for enforcement Datuk Azman Adam confirmed the ministry has received six complaints about underfilled RON95 petrol to date.
No official complaints have been lodged regarding poor quality RON95 petrol according to the ministry’s statement.
Enforcement officers have conducted inspections, reviewed sales records and checked petrol pumps as part of their investigation.
The ministry confirmed that BUDI95 does not affect the quantity or quality of petrol sold to consumers.
Continuous inspections will be carried out, including random sampling and accuracy tests at petrol stations.
Companies found guilty under the Trade Descriptions Act 2011 could face fines of up to 250,000 ringgit.
Repeat corporate offenders could be fined up to 500,000 ringgit under the legislation.
Individuals found violating the act could face fines up to 100,000 ringgit, imprisonment up to three years, or both penalties.
