JOHOR BAHRU: An Orang Asli man was missing while catching mud crabs at Sungai Boh mangrove swamp in Gelang Patah, Iskandar Puteri, yesterday.
Iskandar Puteri Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Shamsul Khomari Bakar said the man, Wangti Nad, in his 40s, hailed from Kampung Orang Asli Simpang Arang.
He said Wangti was reported to have left the house to catch mud crabs at the mangrove swamp at 7 am yesterday and had not returned since.
âAccording to his wife, he normally returned home at 2 pm, but when he did not turn up yesterday, she sought help from the villagers to locate her husband, only to find his boat at the location,â he said in a statement here, today.
Shamsul Khomari said a search and rescue operation had been launched to search for the man, which also involved the police and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency personnel. -Bernama
