KUCHING: The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, and the Tengku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, graced the ‘Malam Mesra Sarawak-Pahang’ event held at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Complex here tonight.

Their Royal Highnesses arrived at about 8.20 pm, accompanied by the Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.

Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah are on a four-day visit to Sarawak.

In his speech, Abang Johari said Pahang and Sarawak had long fostered close ties for mutual benefit, particularly in the fields of handicrafts, tourism and cultural heritage preservation.

“From the Cameron Highlands and Taman Negara in Pahang to the tropical forests and traditional villages of Sarawak, both states share vast potential to develop integrated tourism packages based on ecotourism and local culture. Through joint promotions, cultural exchanges and enhanced air and land connectivity, we can showcase to the world the true beauty of Malaysia’s diversity,” he said.

According to a post by the Pahang Royal Household on Facebook, several events have been arranged for Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah throughout the visit, including a state banquet, visits to key institutions and attractions, as well as the closing ceremony of the 2025 Sarawak Regatta and the 2025 Borneo Craft Festival.

“The visit, which is scheduled to continue until next Monday, is expected to further strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the governments of Pahang and Sarawak,” the post read.
