AI chatbot rolled out to boost digital public services

Perak government introduces AI Chatbot SUK Perak across three key portals to improve service efficiency and provide 24/7 public access

IPOH: The Perak government has launched the “AI Chatbot SUK Perak” across three websites as part of efforts to enhance digital services and improve efficiency of the civil service.

The chatbot will be available on the ePenghulu portal, state higher education loan system and the Perak Museum Board official portal.

State Communication, Multimedia and NGO Committee chairman Azlan Helmi said the three websites were chosen because they are among the portals most frequently used by the public.

“It will eventually be expanded to other departments and agencies,” he said.

Azlan was speaking after officiating at the “ICT Day: AI for All – Catalyst for Perak Sejahtera 2030” event at the Dewan Bankuet of the State Secretariat Building on Tuesday.

Also present were Perak Deputy State Secretary (Management) Datuk Nor Sham Rahman and Perak Digital CEO Mohamad Suhaimi Mohamad Tahir.

Azlan said the chatbot would enable faster response, minimise errors and ensure information is disseminated consistently around the clock.

“For the public, it provides easy, convenient and user-friendly access to government information and services, so they no longer need to be physically present at counters or call officers, which shortens waiting time,” he said.

He added that the chatbot would also help civil servants by reducing routine tasks, allowing them to focus on strategic duties and improving departmental productivity.

“Since the beginning of the year, the state secretariat has conducted AI lessons and training for all technical officers.

“This exposes staff to new skills and knowledge on AI adoption in their daily tasks to improve efficiency and performance.”

On ICT Day, Azlan said the programme is an appropriate platform to broaden civil servants’ understanding of the importance of AI in the digital era.

“I hope the ICT Day initiative will not stop here. AI technology must become part of our working culture to enhance service delivery to the public.

“All agencies will use data and analytics to understand the needs of the rakyat, optimise operations and provide more efficient services,” he said.
