Negeri Sembilan’s RM250,000 ‘Anak Pokok Harapan’ initiative aims to stimulate rural economic growth through village-level agriculture and downstream activities
SEREMBAN: The RM250,000 allocation under the Anak Pokok Harapan: 1 Desa 1 Tanaman initiative in the Negeri Sembilan Budget 2026 is expected to serve as a key platform to stimulate economic growth in the rural agricultural sector, while strengthening downstream activities and improving the income of local communities.
Senior state executive councillor (Exco) Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias said the state government will expand the initiative in stages to villages across the state throughout the implementation of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP).
“This approach will enable more villagers to participate in fruit and vegetable cultivation activities, positioning the rural agricultural sector as a key driver of the state’s economic growth,” he said at the Negeri Sembilan State Assembly sitting today.
He said this in response to a question from Datuk Mohd Razi Mohd Ali (BN-Sungai Lui), who asked the state government to clarify the implementation of the one village, one agricultural product initiative.
Jalaluddin said the programme is expected to generate positive economic impact at the village level by meeting local needs, creating opportunities for downstream activities and ultimately increasing the income and overall well-being of rural communities.
Jalaluddin (BN-Pertang) said the initiative will optimise land use for cultivating high-value fruit crops and fresh vegetables, helping to raise rural household income while strengthening the state’s food security agenda.
“The Touchpoint Buah-buahan (Fruit Touchpoint) programme is currently being implemented across 65 Village Development and Security Committees (JPKK) statewide, with the participation of more than 1,800 residents.
“The programme involves the distribution of high-quality fruit tree seedlings such as durian, cempedak and coconut, along with essential agricultural inputs,” he said.
