Army confirms paratrooper’s neck injury in parachuting accident

A Malaysian Army paratrooper suffered a cracked neck bone in a training accident, with the soldier now under close medical observation.

MELAKA: The Malaysian Army has confirmed a soldier sustained a cracked neck bone during a parachuting training accident last Sunday.

The incident occurred at Padang Encore in Klebang during a routine exercise.

In a statement, the army’s Public Relations Cell clarified that social media claims of broken ribs were inaccurate.

“The cracked neck bone injury was confirmed through X-ray and computed tomography (CT) scans conducted while the soldier was receiving treatment at Melaka Hospital,” the statement said.

To ensure an optimal recovery, the soldier was transferred to the Armed Forces Hospital at Sungai Udang Camp on December 30.

He is a paratrooper from the Special Warfare Training Centre (PULPAK).

The soldier is now under close monitoring by army medical officers for follow-up treatment.

The army also advised the public against spreading unofficial information.

Such dissemination could affect the privacy of the soldier and his family, the statement added. – Bernama
