Flood victims in Malaysia increase to 1,390, with Sarawak accounting for 1,182 evacuees. Johor and Pahang also have ongoing relief operations.
KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood victims in three states has risen to 1,390 people as of this afternoon.
Sarawak remains the worst-hit state, with evacuees increasing to 1,182 people from 301 families.
The Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) said those affected are from several villages in the Kuching and Kota Samarahan areas.
Flooding was also reported in Kampung Plaie, Kampung Jegoi in Kota Samarahan, and Kampung Siang-Siang in Lawas.
A separate landslide occurred at Kampung Lusut Jaya in Miri.
In Johor, the number of victims in Segamat remains at 134 people from 36 families.
They are housed at five relief centres, including Balai Raya Kampung Batu Badak and Dewan Serbaguna Kampung Tasek.
A similar situation was recorded in Pahang, with 74 victims from 15 families still at a centre in Sekolah Kebangsaan Ulu Atok, Raub.
