Islamic Educational Institutions are encouraged to register with authorities to access RM200 million in government aid and ensure proper monitoring.
PADANG BESAR: The government is encouraging all Islamic Educational Institutions (IPI) nationwide to register with the relevant authorities.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan said this will facilitate more organised monitoring and effective distribution of aid.
“We wish to encourage all these institutions to register so that we can monitor and assist in strengthening them,” he told reporters after a working visit to Maahad Attarbiyah Al Islamiyah (MATRI) in Beseri.
He said registration is crucial to ensure each institution receives due attention on safety, infrastructure and student welfare.
The call aligns with an increased national allocation of RM200 million for the maintenance and upgrading of religious schools this year.
Zulkifli noted that the government allocated RM150 million for approximately 1,600 religious schools nationwide last year.
The additional RM50 million will enable more institutions to receive funds for repairs, electrical rewiring and classroom improvements.
He said this ensures a more comfortable and safe learning environment for students.
Meanwhile, Zulkifli revealed the government allocated RM157,800 last year for maintenance and upgrades at MATRI.
The completed work included electrical system improvements and classroom refurbishments.
He said this approach reflects the government’s commitment, grounded in the Malaysia MADANI spirit, to comprehensively strengthen IPIs.
The goal is to ensure these religious institutions remain competitive and well-supported.
