Jalan Gua Musang-Lojing is closed to all traffic indefinitely due to a landslide, with JKR advising motorists to use alternative routes
GUA MUSANG: A landslide has forced the full closure of a section of Jalan Gua Musang-Lojing.
The Gua Musang Public Works Department (JKR) announced the immediate closure of Section 107.6 near Pos Blau to all traffic from today.
The closure will remain in effect indefinitely to allow for safety and recovery work.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes during this period.
Road users travelling from Gua Musang to Cameron Highlands in Pahang can take the Sungai Koyan–Ringlet–Cameron Highlands route.
Those heading to Ipoh, Perak, may use the Gua Musang–Sungai Koyan–Ringlet–Tapah–Ipoh route.
JKR reminded the public to exercise caution and comply with all safety signs along the affected routes.
Meanwhile, a 19-year-old man was injured when the vehicle he was driving plunged into a ravine at the landslide site early today.
According to Gua Musang district police chief Supt Sik Choon Foo, the victim was travelling in a Proton Satria Neo from Cameron Highlands to Pasir Puteh when the accident occurred at about 5 am.
In a statement here, he said the victim was believed to have passed a road barrier set up due to the landslide about a kilometre before his vehicle plunged into the ravine.
Sik said the victim sustained a broken left hand and was taken by ambulance to the Pos Brooke Health Clinic for initial treatment.
He urged the public to fully comply with instructions from the authorities to prevent any untoward incidents.– Bernama
