An Indonesian man drowned while swimming in a river at a Perak glamping site after his foot became trapped between rocks.
SUGEH GLAMPING: An Indonesian tourist drowned after his foot became trapped between rocks in a waterway at a glamping site near Slim River this afternoon.
The Perak Fire and Rescue Department said a team from Tanjung Malim station responded to a call at 1.50 pm.
Acting assistant director of operations Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah said members of the public had already pulled the unconscious victim from the water upon their arrival.
“The victim was on holiday with his family, but while swimming in the river, his foot was stuck between rocks, and he drowned due to water flowing through the passage,” he said in a statement.
Health personnel at the scene pronounced the man dead.
His body was subsequently handed over to the police for further action.
The rescue operation concluded at about 3.15 pm.
