Land tax and royalties remain top revenue sources for Pahang state

Pahang’s revenue is led by land tax and royalties, with collections exceeding RM891 million in 2022 and over RM376 million in arrears recorded

KUANTAN: Land tax and royalties continue to be the two largest contributors to Pahang’s state revenue from 2022 to November this year.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said revenue from land tax includes current parcel tax and first-year land tax.

Royalties are derived from timber, mining, and the production of rock materials, he told the State Legislative Assembly.

He said Pahang also earns revenue through licences, registration fees, permits, and the sale of goods like forestry premiums and agricultural products.

Grants from the Federal government form another key revenue stream, he added.

Wan Rosdy was responding to a question from Datuk Andansura Rabu (PN-Beserah) on the state’s top five revenue sources.

The total revenue from these five sources was over RM891 million in 2022.

It rose to RM935 million in 2023 and was RM932 million in 2024.

Revenue recorded as of November 2025 stood at RM762 million.

As of October, land tax arrears totalled over RM376 million.

“The amount of arrears recorded in 2021 was RM1.1 billion, and we have reduced it,” Wan Rosdy said.

He stated efforts to collect arrears will be intensified, though he acknowledged it is not an easy task.

The arrears involve various parties, including individuals, corporations, companies, and Federal government agencies.

Some have already settled payments or are planning to do so, he said in reply to a supplementary question.

Separately, state executive councillor Datuk Seri Mohd Soffi Abd Razak said 20.8 million fish fry have been released into public waters since 2010.

A total of 2.48 million fish fry were released as of September this year to support inland fisheries conservation.

Inland fish landings in Pahang for 2024 exceeded 2,200 tonnes with a value of over RM64 million. – Bernama
