A slope collapse in Taman Bukit Berlian buried a family’s laundry room, forcing six residents to evacuate due to ongoing soil movement
SEREMBAN: A family of six experienced panic when a slope collapsed behind their Taman Bukit Berlian home early this morning, partially burying their house.
The 3 am landslide buried the laundry room at the rear of the property, causing water to flow into the kitchen.
Homeowner Hun Swee Chun, 67, said his daughter initially woke to what sounded like a falling tree behind their house.
“We didn’t expect the situation to be worse when we found a landslide on the slope behind the house,” he told Bernama.
Hun noted that trees had fallen on the same slope last April during heavy rain, but this incident was far more serious.
The family has temporarily relocated to a Seremban hotel for safety.
Hun, a seven-year resident, said the landslide more severely affected his son’s house while his sister’s property remained undamaged.
The Minerals and Geosciences Department advised temporary evacuation due to ongoing soil movement in the area.
According to Hun, the Seremban City Council will conduct detailed inspections and take appropriate safety measures.
The Negeri Sembilan Fire and Rescue Department reported the landslide occurred around 3.55 am, affecting two houses and six residents following heavy overnight rain.
The department also recorded several fallen tree incidents throughout Seremban district. – Bernama
