Malaysia’s ASEAN chair success praised by PM Anwar

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim thanks all personnel for Malaysia’s successful 2025 ASEAN chairmanship, highlighting national unity and economic goals.

SERDANG: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed deep appreciation to all parties who contributed to the success of Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025.

He thanked personnel from security forces, government servants, and cleaning staff for upholding Malaysia’s name internationally.

“Starting from the cleaning staff to the cultural arts performances presented during the ASEAN Summit 2025, everything was truly enchanting,” Anwar said.

He highlighted the outstanding professionalism of the police, customs, immigration, and private security in managing the event without disruption.

Anwar noted the heavy task was made lighter by the unwavering commitment of officers from various ministries working late into the night.

He spoke at the Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship Appreciation Ceremony, with Deputy Prime Ministers and senior ministers in attendance.

Anwar said the consensus across races, religions, and ministries proved success is achieved through teamwork.

Beyond peace and stability, he wants Malaysia recognised for economic management, AI adoption, and new energy use.

“We also want them to see how we manage the economy, and how united we are as a nation,” he stated.

He linked this to clear policies, firm leadership, and eradicating corruption and abuse of power.

The Prime Minister warned against complacency, urging harder work to strengthen the economy and public well-being.

He said Malaysia’s chairmanship showed care for all nations, including less developed neighbour Timor-Leste.

Timor-Leste was officially admitted as ASEAN’s 11th member at the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur last October.
