MARA’s 60th anniversary motorcycle convoy channels aid for education, home repairs and underprivileged families in Perlis, engaging with local communities
KANGAR: The “Konvoi Gemilang 60 Tahun Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA)” has channelled over RM20,000 in aid to the asnaf community in Perlis.
MARA director-general Datuk Zulfikri Osman said the contributions were presented through collaboration with its subsidiaries and strategic partners like the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs).
He stated the programme strengthens cooperation among MARA and its related agencies in line with its 60th-anniversary aspirations.
The 270-participant motorcycle convoy was led by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.
The Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, was also in attendance.
The convoy began at Masjid Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail and stopped at five locations including asnaf premises and the Kangar MARA Arcade.
Zulfikri said the aid included assistance for schooling, higher education, and home repairs for underprivileged families.
He added the programme positively impacts local communities and symbolises MARA’s success in national socio-economic development.
During the event, cash aid and food packs were presented to the asnaf group.
Contributions were also given to the adopted children of MARA’s subsidiary, Rural Capital Berhad (RCB).
The programme included casual chat sessions with MARA entrepreneurs and promoted the Kangar MARA Arcade.
The arcade provides organised business premises to empower Bumiputera entrepreneurs and boost the local economy.
The strategic collaboration also involves Yayasan Pelajaran MARA.
Institut Kemahiran MARA Beseri acts as the implementation agency for repairing the homes of the asnaf group.
