Tropical storm Senyar approaching Peninsula Malaysia. Heavy rain, strong winds expected until Saturday
THE Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued an alert for Tropical Storm Senyar, which has been detected north of Sumatra, approximately 102 kilometres southwest of Lumut, Perak. The storm is moving southeast at roughly 24 km/h through the Straits of Malacca towards the western coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
MetMalaysia director-general Dr Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip told Bernama that the weather system is likely to bring prolonged heavy rainfall, powerful winds, and rough seas to Peninsular Malaysia from today through Saturday, particularly affecting western and central states.
The department has updated its Tropical Storm Warning, Continuous Rain Warning, and Strong Wind and Rough Seas Warning for several states including Kedah, Penang, Perak, Pahang, Selangor, the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Malacca, and Johor, effective from November 27 to 29.
Dr Mohd Hisham emphasised that MetMalaysia will continue monitoring the storm’s development and provide updates based on current conditions.

- Kedah (Kulim and Bandar Baharu)
- Penang
- Perak
- Terengganu
- Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, and Bentong)
- Selangor
- Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya
Areas Under Alert-Level Continuous Rain Warning:
- Kelantan
- Pahang (Jerantut, Temerloh, Maran, Kuantan, Bera, Pekan, and Rompin)
- Negeri Sembilan
- Malacca
- Johor (Tangkak and Segamat)
