The NADI on Wheels mobile service centre provides free Wi-Fi and digital support to evacuees at a temporary relief centre in Kuantan
KUANTAN: A mobile service centre is providing crucial internet connectivity and support to flood victims at a temporary relief centre (PPS) here.
The NADI on Wheels (NOW) unit has been stationed at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Setongkol since Thursday.
It was deployed through an initiative by the Prime Minister’s political secretary, Datuk Ahmad Farhan Fauzi, and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
MCMC stated the service aims to ensure victims remain connected and can access accurate information.
Services offered include free internet facilities, basic health screenings, and community-tailored activities.
The unit is equipped with Starlink satellites, portable solar power, laptops, and free Wi-Fi.
“This initiative ensures that digital access can be maintained, supporting the well-being of the dislocated evacuees,” MCMC said.
One flood victim, R Sivaranjini, 30, said the service has smoothed her communication with her husband working in Singapore.
“After having NOW yesterday, internet access is smooth and not blocked anymore,” she told Bernama.
Student Muhammad Aidil Izham Shahrom, 15, said the stable internet helps users get the latest flood updates.
“Stable internet makes it easier for us to get the latest information about the floods as well as to surf online games,” he said.
