Housing Minister Nga Kor Ming retracts statements and apologises to media practitioners following criticism of his conduct at Bukit Bintang event
IPOH: Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming has apologised and retracted remarks he made during the pre-launch of the Bukit Bintang’s I Lite U lighting initiative.
Nga stated he accepts all feedback regarding his comments during the programme and withdraws any statements that may have caused confusion or upset among media members.
He expressed his wholehearted welcome of feedback concerning his misstep during the Bukit Bintang Kuala Lumpur Lighting Programme.
The minister retracted his remarks and apologised to any media practitioners who were offended so everyone could focus on rebuilding the nation.
Nga made this statement during a press conference for the MADANI Park opening ceremony at Taman Book Bak.
He emphasised that he holds the media and their freedom of expression in the highest regard as they carry out their duties.
Nga reiterated his apology and retraction to enable concentration on efforts to uphold and elevate the nation’s dignity.
The minister stated his focus remains on national development as what truly matters.
A previously viral video showed Nga responding in a slightly stern tone to a media practitioner’s question about using English in the I Lite U campaign name.
His conduct drew widespread criticism from media organisations including the National Union of Journalists Malaysia and Gerakan Media Merdeka. – Bernama
