Works Ministry confirms toll rates for DUKE, MEX, and 8 other highways will stay frozen in 2026
KUALA LUMPUR: The government will maintain current toll rates for 10 major highways nationwide in 2026, reaffirming its commitment to protecting the welfare of road users, the Works Ministry announced.
In a statement, its minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi (pic) said the decision aligns with the Prime Minister’s announcement in July under the “Appreciation for Malaysians” initiative.
“The government has agreed that the public would continue to enjoy existing toll rates without any increase.
“It was subsequently approved retrospectively at the Cabinet meeting yesterday to ensure continuity of toll rate implementation.”
The 10 highways involved are the Cheras–Kajang Expressway (GRANDSAGA), KL–Kuala Selangor Expressway (LATAR), North Klang Straits Bypass (NNKSB), Senai–Desaru Expressway (SDE), East Coast Expressway Phase 2 (LPT2), South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE), Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge, Duta–Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE), Kuala Lumpur–Putrajaya Expressway (MEX), and Butterworth Outer Ring Road (LLB).
Nanta said while the government will bear a significant financial impact with RM591.56 million in compensation for 2026, it prioritises public interest and the cost-of-living burden on road users.
“The allocation reflects the Madani Government’s commitment to ensuring public welfare, inclusive economic growth, and sustainable highway management.”
