A nurse’s viral act of feeding an elderly patient with her hands earns recognition from Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad for transcending religious differences
BUTTERWORTH: A nurse’s sincere act of feeding an elderly Indian patient, which recently went viral on social media, proves that compassion and humanity transcend religious and belief differences.
The commendable attitude of nurse Nur Deena Nadzhiefa caught the attention of Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, who presented her with recognition during a visit to Hospital Seberang Jaya (HSJ) yesterday.
Dzulkefly said the video truly tugged at heartstrings and prompted him to meet the nurse in person.
“The award I presented is small in value compared to the compassion Deena showed,” he said in a Facebook post.
He said Nur Deena’s attitude proves that healing in hospitals does not rely solely on pills or injections, but also stems from empathetic and caring treatment.
He also recorded his appreciation to Nur Deena for embodying the ‘Malaysia’ spirit in her daily duties.
He expressed hope that the noble values displayed could become an inspiration and example for all healthcare workers.
