Pahang JPN issues birth certificates to six siblings in Cherating after a compassionate outreach, resolving their long-standing lack of identification documents
KUANTAN: The Pahang National Registration Department (JPN) has delivered birth certificates to six siblings in Cherating, resolving their long-standing lack of identification documents.
The case involved Hazlina Husin’s six children, aged 11 to 23, who previously had no birth certificates or identity cards.
This absence had severely affected their access to education, employment, and government assistance.
JPN director-general Badrul Hisham Alias presented the certificates at the family’s home.
The department described this as an inclusive and compassionate approach aligned with the MADANI government’s aspirations.
“As a single mother, Hazlina also faces challenges supporting her family, including caring for a bedridden child with disabilities,” JPN said in a statement.
A preliminary investigation on Jan 28 found a key delay was verifying the parents’ marriage. Legally recognised marriage documents are required for birth registration in Malaysia.
Hazlina and five of her children completed a Late Birth Registration application at the JPN office on Feb 3.
For her child with disabilities, the JPN MEKAR team visited the home on Feb 11 to complete the process.
“Pahang JPN remains committed to ensuring that all eligible citizens receive their identification documents in accordance with the law,” the statement added.
The department urged the public to register all vital events within the stipulated period to prevent future complications.
