TEKUN Nasional collaborates with AKPK to restructure non-performing loans, helping micro-entrepreneurs regain financial stability and reduce NPL rates
KUALA LUMPUR: TEKUN Nasional will partner with the Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK) to strengthen its loan repayment mechanism.
This collaboration enables restructuring of non-performing loan accounts through AKPK’s credit management programme.
Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said this provides micro borrowers with financial stability to resume commitments.
He stated that NPL accounts are also reported to credit bureaus like Experian and CTOS for continuous monitoring.
“We are intensifying collections through more effective assistance services,” Ramanan said during his ministry’s budget debate winding-up.
He added that approvals for new applications are being tightened to improve loan quality.
The ongoing nationwide loan repayment campaign has yielded encouraging results with NPL rates dropping to single digits.
Earlier, 12 Members of Parliament participated in the debate for the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives.
The Dewan Rakyat approved operating and development expenditure totalling RM1.03 billion for the ministry under Budget 2026.
Parliament also approved RM1.57 billion for the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture following debate by 20 MPs.
The sitting will resume on Monday. – Bernama
